Questions? We can help.

  • Kidney-Chek identifies urea levels, measured in millimolar (mM), a waste product filtered by the kidneys. Elevated Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) is often seen in chronic kidney disease (CKD). When combined with other tests, Kidney-Chek helps vets diagnose and stage CKD severity.

  • CKD diagnosis considers various factors. Once diagnosed, staging (1 to 4) determines severity. Kidney-Chek can detect elevated urea in saliva, especially in stage 2 where up to 60-75% of kidney function might be lost.

  • Kidney-Chek complements regular lab work but doesn't replace it. Elevated results suggest consultation with a vet for further testing. High blood urea can result from various conditions, not exclusively CKD.

  • Our study didn't explore this aspect. We're collaborating with vets to gather data for future recommendations.

  • Kidney-Chek doesn't detect crystals or UTIs. For pets prone to urinary issues, it ensures kidney functionality. Address emergencies like urinary obstruction promptly. Monitor UTIs and Feline Idiopathic Cystitis for overall pet health.

    Understanding Urinary Issues:

    • Bladder Stones/Crystals: Potential blockage risks, leading to Acute Kidney Injury. Urgent vet attention is crucial for straining or inability to urinate.

    • Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Address infectious pathogens promptly to prevent kidney inflammation and damage. Monitor recurring UTIs, especially in pets with CKD.

    • Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC): Manage stress to prevent and handle bladder inflammation. Reducing stress contributes to overall feline well-being and helps minimize CKD risks.

"As someone who supposedly knows animals, I only caught my cat Scout's kidney disease because I took a Kidney-Chek strip home to test him out of curiosity. It turns out he is in stage 3 kidney disease! I would highly recommend Kidney-Chek™ to all veterinary professionals!"
